Kashmir, February 13,2026-The Department of AYUSH Kishtwar today celebrated World Unani Day 2026 with great enthusiasm at the Meeting Hall of the New DC Office in Kishtwar, highlighting the significance of the ancient Unani system of medicine in promoting holistic healthcare.
The event was graced by the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma, who attended as the Chief Guest. Officers, medical practitioners, staff members of AYUSH, and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of traditional systems of medicine, particularly Unani, in strengthening preventive and promotive healthcare. He lauded the efforts of the Department of AYUSH for spreading awareness about alternative medicine and ensuring accessible healthcare services in remote areas of the district. He also encouraged greater public participation and awareness regarding the benefits of Unani treatment and lifestyle practices.
The program featured informative sessions on the history, principles, and contributions of Unani medicine to modern healthcare. Experts highlighted the role of natural remedies, balanced diet, and regimental therapies in maintaining overall well-being. The celebration aimed to commemorate the legacy of great Unani scholars and to promote integration of traditional medicine with contemporary healthcare systems.
District AYUSH Officer, along with other officials, reiterated their commitment to enhancing healthcare outreach under various government initiatives. They stressed the need to preserve and promote the rich heritage of Unani medicine for future generations.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the department’s resolve to continue organising awareness programs and health camps across the district.
