Kashmir, February 12,2026- In a major push towards women’s empowerment in agriculture, 2,500 mushroom cultivation bags were distributed among women farmers under a 50% subsidy scheme. The initiative aims to encourage women to take a leading role in farming and boost rural livelihoods across the region.
Officials said the programme provides women with access to modern agricultural techniques, financial support, and training in mushroom cultivation, enabling them to generate income from home-based farming. By involving women directly in farming activities, the initiative strengthens community development and promotes sustainable agricultural practices.
Beneficiaries expressed enthusiasm, noting that the scheme not only empowers them economically but also inspires other women in their communities to engage in entrepreneurial farming. Experts highlighted that women-led agricultural initiatives have a multiplier effect, improving nutrition, income, and overall social well-being in rural areas.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the administration to promote inclusive agriculture, provide subsidies and technical support to women farmers, and encourage the adoption of innovative farming practices in Jammu and Kashmir.
