Doda,January 24,2026- National Girl Child Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm across Doda district, focusing on empowering girls and promoting their rights, education, health, and safety.
The main programme was organized by the District Administration in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, Education Department, and other allied agencies under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Zubair Ahmed. A large number of girl students actively participated in the event.
The programme featured awareness sessions, speeches, debates, and painting competitions, highlighting the significance of the day. Students expressed their views on eliminating gender discrimination and ensuring equal opportunities for girls in all spheres of life. Key issues such as girls’ education, healthcare, nutrition, and protection from social evils were also discussed. Academic and sports toppers were felicitated during the event.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Harvinder Singh, the Chief Guest, emphasized the importance of National Girl Child Day and lauded the achievements of women across politics, education, sports, literature, civil services, and other fields. He urged parents and the community to work together to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for girls to reach their full potential.
The DDC also commended the enthusiastic participation of the students and felicitated meritorious performers with medals and awards. The programme was attended by ACP, CEO, DSWO, Executive Officer Municipality Doda, along with teachers and other officials.
