Baramulla, January 22,2026-Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, on Tuesday reviewed the status of the ongoing digitisation process and the Minor Irrigation Census in the district, directing all concerned departments to complete the remaining work within 15 days.
Chairing a review meeting, the DC assessed the pace and quality of data entry, verification, and consolidation related to irrigation assets and records. He stressed that the entire exercise must adhere to the principles of accuracy, transparency, and timely execution, noting that reliable data is critical for effective planning and policy implementation.
The DC instructed officials to ensure error-free digitization, proper geo-tagging wherever applicable, and strict compliance with prescribed guidelines. He also called for enhanced inter-departmental coordination to address bottlenecks and avoid duplication of data.
Emphasising accountability, Minga Sherpa asked nodal officers to conduct regular monitoring and submit daily progress reports until completion. He cautioned that delays or inaccuracies would be viewed seriously, as the Minor Irrigation Census forms the backbone for future water resource management, agricultural planning, and infrastructure development in the district.
Officials present in the meeting briefed the DC on the current progress and assured timely completion of the assigned targets within the stipulated timeframe.
