Srinagar, January 20,2026: A newly constructed wooden pedestrian bridge at Amira Kadal is set to open on January 20, adding a heritage-inspired architectural landmark to the Jhelum riverfront under the Srinagar Smart City project.
Designed to blend traditional aesthetics with modern urban planning, the bridge aims to enhance pedestrian connectivity while preserving the cultural character of Srinagar. The project reflects the Smart City mission’s focus on sustainable infrastructure, urban renewal, and heritage conservation along the banks of the Jhelum River.
The bridge will be inaugurated on January 20 by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing development of Srinagar’s public infrastructure. Officials stated that the pedestrian bridge will improve daily movement for residents and tourists while also contributing to the visual appeal of the riverfront area.
The Amira Kadal bridge is expected to become a prominent public space, strengthening walkability, tourism, and urban accessibility in the city, in line with the broader objectives of the Smart City initiative.
