Tral, January 6,2026- Nineteen-year-old Hazik Hussain from Tral has developed an innovative mobile application, “KashCrop,” designed to provide scientific guidance to Kashmir’s orchardists. The app aims to help local farmers improve horticultural productivity, minimize crop losses, and adopt modern farming practices.
The application, which will soon be available on the Google Play Store, is being refined under the mentorship of SKUAST-Kashmir. Hazik is working closely with experts to ensure that the platform offers practical, technology-driven solutions tailored for the region’s apple, walnut, and other orchard crops.
KashCrop is expected to serve as a valuable tool for farmers, offering insights on crop management, pest control, fertilisation techniques, and yield optimisation. By integrating local knowledge with scientific methods, the app promises to transform traditional horticulture in Kashmir.
Speaking about his initiative, Hazik Hussain said, “Our goal is to empower farmers with the right tools and knowledge to maximise productivity, reduce losses, and make informed decisions in orchard management.”
Agriculture and horticulture experts in Kashmir have lauded the initiative, emphasising that digital platforms like KashCrop can play a key role in modernising the region’s farming sector, supporting sustainable agriculture, and boosting the local economy.
