Div Com reviews progress of national highway projects in Jammu division

Jammu, December 18,2025- Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, today reviewed the progress of various National Highway and major road projects being executed across Jammu Division by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

The Divisional Commissioner was briefed on the package-wise progress of key infrastructure projects, including the Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Expressway, Jammu–Poonch National Highway, Budhal–Mahore–Gool road, and highways being developed by NHIDCL in the Chenab Valley region.

Reviewing the Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Expressway, the Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned executing agency to ensure speedy completion of the 3-kilometre overbridge at Vijaypur to avoid delays and facilitate smoother connectivity.

The Chief Engineer, BRO, was directed to open both tubes of the Gandharwan Tunnel on the Jammu–Poonch National Highway at the earliest to ensure uninterrupted and smooth movement of traffic in the region.

While reviewing the progress of the Bhagwati Nagar flyover, the Divisional Commissioner instructed NHIDCL to expedite the work and complete the project at the earliest. Discussions were also held on issues related to land acquisition and forest clearances, which are affecting the smooth execution of several National Highway projects.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned departments and District Administrations to resolve all pending issues on priority to accelerate the completion of the remaining National Highway projects in the division.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, Director Geology and Mining Jammu, Chief Engineer Project Beacon/Sampark, Regional Officer NHAI, General Manager NHIDCL, and Project Directors of Jammu and Udhampur.
