Reasi, November 28,2025:A local farmer from Reasi, Rakesh Kumar, has emerged as an inspiring example of agricultural innovation by earning ₹5,000–6,000 per day through successful mushroom farming. His remarkable journey from traditional cultivation to high-value mushroom production is now motivating youth and women across the district to explore modern and profitable farming techniques.
Rakesh Kumar, who once relied solely on conventional crops with limited returns, shifted to mushroom cultivation after learning about its growing demand and income potential. With proper training and consistent effort, he established a sustainable model that now ensures him a steady daily income.
“Mushroom farming changed my life. It requires less land, less water, and gives better returns. Anyone—especially unemployed youth and women—can start this with minimal investment,” Rakesh shared while speaking about his journey.
Local officials and agricultural experts have also acknowledged his success, highlighting how such initiatives are crucial for boosting rural livelihoods and promoting crop diversification. Many young people and women from nearby villages have started visiting his unit to learn the process and adopt similar practices.
Rakesh’s achievement is being seen as a step toward self-reliance, rural entrepreneurship, and sustainable agriculture in the Reasi district. His thriving model demonstrates how innovation in farming can transform lives and open new avenues for economic growth.
