Kashmir’s golden hands shine at soulful craft carnival

Srinagar, 20 November 2025 – The crisp November air of Srinagar turned warmer today as Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg (IAS), inaugurated the much-awaited 3-day Know Your Artisan Craft Carnival at the iconic Sher-e-Kashmir Park along the banks of Dal Lake.Under the banner of Soulful Kashmir, the carnival is more than an exhibition — it is a heartfelt celebration of living legends. Over 30 of Kashmir’s finest artisans, including Shilp Gurus, Padma Shri recipients, and National & State Award winners, have gathered under one roof to showcase the breathtaking beauty of authentic Kashmiri handicrafts and handlooms.

From the world-famous Pashmina shawls spun finer than a strand of hair to centuries-old papier-mâché painted with stories of paradise, from hand-knotted silk carpets that take years to weave to delicate walnut wood carvings, every stall tells a tale of patience, passion, and unparalleled skill.Visitors can watch master artisans at work during live demonstrations, roll up their sleeves in ‘Try Your Hands’ workshops, and buy directly from the creators — ensuring every rupee goes straight into the golden hands that made the masterpiece.

Speaking at the inauguration, Divisional Commissioner Anshul Garg said,“Kashmir’s crafts are our identity, our pride, and our soft power to the world. Through Know Your Artisan, we are not just selling products — we are preserving a legacy and empowering the artisans who are the true custodians of Kashmir’s soul.”
