Purmandal, November 19, 2025 – Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today visited the revered twin pilgrimage towns of Purmandal and Utterbehni to take part in the Foundation Day celebrations of the Purmandal Utterbehni Teerth Seva Nyas—an institution central to safeguarding the spiritual and cultural legacy of the region. Reaffirming his commitment to transform the Purmandal-Utterbehni corridor into a world-class spiritual destination, Sinha emphasized sustainable development, cultural preservation, and immersive religious tourism initiatives.Situated along the sacred Devika River in Samba district, Purmandal and Utterbehni are steeped in ancient Hindu traditions, attracting pilgrims throughout the year. The Teerth Seva Nyas, entrusted with upkeep of temples, ghats, and ritual spaces, continues to play a defining role in rejuvenating these heritage sites.
Speaking at the event, Sinha highlighted ongoing infrastructure upgrades under the PRASAD scheme, which has supported the region since its inclusion in 2021.Key developmental works—ranging from paved pathways, revamped bathing ghats, and solar lighting to improved road connectivity—are reshaping the pilgrimage experience, merging spirituality with eco-friendly amenities. Outlining a broader roadmap, Sinha proposed linking Purmandal-Utterbehni to major pilgrimage circuits such as Mata Vaishno Devi, Mansar-Surinsar lakes, and Shiv Khori.
He urged all stakeholders to adopt green practices, including efficient waste management and rainwater harvesting, to ensure sustainable religious tourism.Reinforcing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, the LG encouraged youth and women to build tourism-led enterprises, homestays, and handicraft ventures that celebrate local Dogra culture. The event saw vibrant cultural performances, traditional rituals, and engaging interactions between Nyas members and devotees.
Local leaders welcomed proposed connectivity enhancements, including a future corridor that links the area with the Delhi-Katra Expressway, expected to boost both footfall and economic opportunities.Calling for collective resolve, Sinha paid tribute to the sacrifices of security forces, farmers, and young innovators. “Aatma-Nirbhar J&K is being built on the sweat and service of our people. We must honour their dedication by shaping a future that fulfils their aspirations,” he said. His message aligns with the administration’s ongoing development push, including investments worth over Rs. 1.5 lakh crore since 2021 across key sectors.
Sinha’s visit adds to a series of initiatives underscoring J&K’s spiritual transformation—from sanitation drives under World Toilet Day to farmer-centric benefits under PM-KISAN. As Purmandal’s ghats resonate with devotional hymns, the region stands at the threshold of becoming a global window to Jammu & Kashmir’s timeless spiritual essence.
