From grains to gains: Reasi entrepreneur rises with PMFME support

Reasi, J&K | November 11, 2025-Under the Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, Mr. Bihari Lal, a resident of Village Chandwa Bhagtha, Block Panthal, Reasi, has successfully availed a ₹20 lakh loan with a ₹7 lakh government subsidy to establish a wheat flour processing unit.

The initiative is not only helping Bihari Lal achieve his entrepreneurial dream but also creating local employment opportunities and strengthening rural self-reliance. His enterprise is expected to enhance value addition in local agricultural produce and contribute to the district’s economic growth.

District officials appreciated his efforts and encouraged more rural youth to leverage the PMFME scheme, which provides financial assistance, capacity building, and technical support for micro food enterprises across India.

The success of such ventures highlights the government’s commitment to empowering rural entrepreneurs, supporting the ‘Vocal for Local’ vision, and promoting sustainable livelihoods in Jammu and Kashmir.
