Kashmir,November 9, 2025- In a resounding endorsement of the Narendra Modi government’s security policies, Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared on Saturday that Jammu and Kashmir has achieved unprecedented peace under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Speaking at a public rally in Katihar, Bihar, Shah contrasted the current stability with what he described as the unchecked reign of terrorism during previous Congress-led administrations, where militants allegedly operated with impunity.”Under the government led by PM Modi, Kashmir has remained peaceful, unlike during previous governments when terrorist attacks went unanswered,” Shah asserted, emphasizing a shift from passive responses to proactive deterrence. He recounted how, in the era of Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, and regional leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav, terrorists could “freely enter and leave Kashmir after carrying out attacks,” planting bombs and escaping without consequence. “They were offered biryani,” Shah quipped, alluding to the perceived leniency of past regimes.Shah highlighted the Modi administration’s “decisive military action” as the cornerstone of this transformation.
Drawing on recent events, he referenced the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives—mostly tourists—and symbolized a brutal escalation in cross-border violence. In retaliation, Indian forces launched Operation Sindoor within 20 days, striking nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), including Jaish-e-Mohammed’s stronghold in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke. “We entered Pakistan’s territory and eliminated the terrorists… If terrorists fire bullets, they will be answered with shells,” Shah declared, underscoring that adversaries now face retribution “on their own turf.” This operation, Shah noted, not only avenged the victims but also shattered the morale of terrorists and their sponsors, fostering a sense of national pride and security. “This operation has made every Indian, especially women, proud… confident that under PM Modi ji, the country will remain safe,” echoed sentiments from families affected by the attack, including Harshal Lele, who lost his father and uncles in Pahalgam. The Home Minister’s remarks come amid Bihar’s ongoing assembly elections, where national security has emerged as a key campaign plank for the BJP-led NDA. Shah also announced PM Modi’s approval for a defence corridor in Bihar, aimed at bolstering India’s self-reliance in manufacturing.
“This corridor will strengthen India’s defence sector and create jobs for local youth. If terrorists dare to act, their bullets will be answered with shells—made right here in Bihar,” he said, linking economic development to fortified national defence. Shah reiterated the government’s broader vision: identifying and deporting infiltrators, enhancing border protection, and dismantling illegal arms networks. He blamed Congress regimes for three decades of turmoil in Kashmir, crediting the 2019 abrogation of Article 370 and subsequent operations like Surgical Strikes and Operation Mahadev for integrating the region and curbing militancy. Critics, including opposition leaders, have accused the BJP of politicizing security issues, but Shah dismissed such claims, urging voters to choose between “a government that allows illegal weapons or one that acts firmly against enemies.” As Bihar heads to the polls, Shah’s narrative positions the NDA as the guardian of peace, development, and deterrence.
