NEP: Transforming Jammu & Kashmir’s Education Landscape | LG Manoj Sinha at NEP Conclave 2025 At the NEP Conclave 2025 in Srinagar, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha highlighted how the National Education Policy has revolutionized school and higher education across India — and especially in Jammu & Kashmir. From digital learning and skill-based education to mother-tongue instruction and institutional excellence, the LG emphasized that NEP is shaping the foundation of a Viksit Bharat and positioning J&K as a model for educational transformation.
In the last five years, the National Education Policy has brought about a significant change in the landscape of school and higher education, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, in his address at the inaugural session of NEP Conclave 2025 held at Srinagar. I can definitely say one thing that in the journey towards developed India, National Education Policy can be the most important driver of India’s transformation, LG stated.
If we look at the field of school education, there have been many changes in it as well, including many revolutionary decisions. Upgradation of schools under PM Sri Shiksha Yojana as per the needs of man and the era, One Nation One Digital Platform, National Digital Education Architecture and efforts have been started to revive the tradition of teaching children through games and activities.
Apart from this, efforts are being made to encourage education in mother tongue and regional languages to students at least up to class 5. Emphasis is placed on equitable and inclusive education. And a lot of efforts are needed to develop a scientific temper in children, be it Atal Tinkering Lab or implementation of skill-based education. I feel that this will be an effort to lay a strong foundation for a bright India. In the context of Jammu and Kashmir, I can definitely say that it has helped a lot in creating a new environment in higher education, LG said.
In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) released in September, Kashmir University secured 34th position and Jammu University secured 51st position at the national level. In the category of State Public University, Kashmir University secured 8th rank and Jammu University secured 21st rank. In the category of Agriculture Science, SKUAST Kashmir secured 7th position and SKUAST Jammu secured 23rd position. Similarly, the Islamic University of Science & Technology has also made excellent and commendable efforts in many respects. Some work has been done here as per the National Education Policy but it needs to be further intensified, LG said. The objective is to make the education sector of Jammu and Kashmir completely compliant with NEP. so that in the coming days, we can proudly and happily say in the country that we have implemented NEP in true sense.
