CD/SDRF J&K awareness camps & training at GDC Marheen

Jammu, Sept 16: The Civil Defence (CD) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) J&K organised a series of awareness camps across the Union Territory to strengthen community preparedness in disaster management and emergency response. The programmes were conducted in Anantnag, Budgam, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Jammu, and Poonch districts on September 16, 2025.

The awareness drives focused on sensitising the public about disaster risk reduction, rescue techniques, and first response measures, equipping citizens with the knowledge to act effectively in emergencies.

In a parallel initiative, Civil Defence Samba successfully conducted a five-day Civil Defence training course at Government Degree College (GDC) Marheen, Kathua. The training covered essential life-saving skills including disaster management, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Basic Life Support (BLS), and fire safety techniques. Students and volunteers actively participated, gaining hands-on experience under the guidance of certified instructors.

Officials from CD/SDRF J&K stated that such initiatives are crucial for building a culture of safety and preparedness, ensuring that communities remain resilient in the face of natural calamities, accidents, and other emergencies.
