Jammu, August 26,2025: Continuous heavy rainfall has pushed rivers in several districts of Jammu division above the danger mark, triggering flood alerts and raising concerns over safety in low-lying areas. Officials confirmed that rivers and streams in Samba, Udhampur, and Kathua districts have crossed critical levels, forcing authorities to sound warnings.
Flood control departments have deployed teams to monitor the rising water levels, while disaster management authorities have urged people living near riverbanks to remain cautious and shift to safer locations if required. Several link roads have been submerged, and vehicular movement on vulnerable stretches has been restricted to prevent accidents.
Local administrations in the affected districts are working closely with police, SDRF, and NDRF teams to tackle any emergency. Residents have been advised to follow weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel as the situation remains volatile.
