Srinagar, August 22, 2025 – Prime Video is set to release Songs of Paradise, a musical drama honoring Raj Begum, Kashmir’s first prominent female playback singer and Padma Shri awardee, on August 29, 2025. Directed by Danish Renzu, the film celebrates Begum’s trailblazing contributions to Kashmiri music and her role in shaping the valley’s cultural identity while inspiring women.
Sheeba ChaddhaRaj Begum, a pioneer in Kashmiri music, became the first female voice of Radio Kashmir and a key figure in early Kashmiri cinema. Her soulful folk and Sufi songs earned her the Padma Shri in 2002, symbolising resilience and empowerment. Songs of Paradise portrays her journey, blending music and drama against Kashmir’s scenic yet turbulent backdrop.Helmed by Kashmiri filmmaker Danish Renzu, the film features Saba Azad, Soni Razdan, Zain Khan Durrani, and Sheeba Chaddha.
