PULWAMA, August 6, 2025 – Students across Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir enthusiastically participated in a series of vibrant activities under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, an initiative under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, aimed at celebrating 75 years of India’s independence. The campaign, designed to foster a deep sense of patriotism and national pride, saw widespread participation from educational institutions, with students engaging in events that highlighted the significance of the Indian national flag.In 2022, a notable event was a painting competition organised by Hamdaniya Mission High School Pampore in collaboration with the Zonal Physical Education Office, Pulwama. Hundreds of students showcased their creativity, expressing their love for the nation through vibrant artwork. “This is the first event after COVID in which we are participating. I hope this type of programme will be held every year because we learn a lot through these activities,” said Syed Imran, a student participant. The school’s principal, Nisar Ahmad, emphasised the importance of such initiatives, stating, “This competition aims to tell the students the importance of the national flag and these types of activities are the chain through which the students connect with their nation.”
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in Pulwama has gained significant momentum, with students taking part in a variety of activities, including essay competitions, singing competitions, and Tiranga rallies across schools. These events, part of the broader Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, aim to encourage citizens to hoist the Tiranga at their homes and celebrate India’s rich history, culture, and achievements. In 2025, the campaign’s action plan, reviewed by Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, included a range of initiatives such as wall paintings, flag hoisting ceremonies, cultural programs, and community engagement drives from August 2 to August 15.
The campaign also integrated community-focused activities like Swachh Sujal Gaon pledges and cleanliness drives, ensuring a holistic approach to fostering national pride. Dr. Qayoom directed departments to coordinate for smooth execution and emphasized the need for widespread public involvement to create a festive and patriotic atmosphere while adhering to the Flag Code of India. Self Help Groups (SHGs) were roped in to produce and distribute an adequate number of national flags across the district.
The Har Ghar Tiranga initiative has been a resounding success in Pulwama, with students and community members coming together to celebrate the spirit of freedom, unity, and nationalism. These activities not only honor India’s independence but also instill a sense of pride and responsibility in the younger generation, ensuring the legacy of the Tiranga continues to inspire.
