Jammu, August 4, 2025 – As part of the Indian Army’s national outreach and awareness campaign, the Commander of Chenab Brigade delivered an insightful session on Operation Sindoor at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu on Saturday. Organized under the aegis of the Tiger Division, the event was attended by the institute’s Director, faculty members, and students, aiming to raise awareness about India’s whole-of-nation approach to counter-terrorism and the professionalism of the Armed Forces.
The session focused on the strategic clarity and execution of Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 civilian lives. The Commander detailed how the operation targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) through precision strikes, neutralising an estimated 80-90 terrorists across nine sites, The operation, named to honour the widows of the victims, underscored India’s resolve to combat cross-border terrorism while maintaining strategic restraint to avoid escalation.
Students engaged actively during the Q&A session, expressing keen interest in national security, strategic affairs, and the evolving nature of modern warfare. The Commander emphasized the Indian Army’s commitment to non-escalatory responses, despite Pakistan’s retaliatory shelling along the Line of Control (LoC), which resulted in civilian casualties. The session also highlighted the role of intelligence-driven operations and the importance of inter-agency coordination in addressing security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir.
Complementing the talk, the Army organized a motivational lecture on women empowerment, career opportunities, and innovation requirements in the Indian Army, further inspiring students to contribute to national defense. The event reinforced IIT Jammu’s role as a hub for fostering youth engagement and awareness about India’s security framework, aligning with the broader goal of building a secure and resilient nation.
