New Delhi, July 17, 2025: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital on Thursday to discuss critical developments in the Union Territory. As LG Sinha nears the end of his five-year tenure, the meeting focused on key issues including the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, security situation, and infrastructure projects in Jammu & Kashmir.
Sources indicate that LG Sinha briefed the Prime Minister on the arrangements for the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, which has seen over 2.5 lakh pilgrims in 2025 and is progressing smoothly. He also provided updates on the security scenario following the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives, and the subsequent “Operation Sindoor” launched on May 7, 2025, targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK. The LG highlighted efforts to strengthen the anti-infiltration grid along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB), alongside ongoing anti-terror operations in districts like Udhampur, Kishtwar, and Kathua.
The discussion also covered major infrastructure projects, including National Highways, expressways, tunnels, and bridges, aimed at enhancing connectivity in the region. The meeting comes a day after LG Sinha reiterated that Jammu & Kashmir’s statehood would be restored at an appropriate time, as promised by the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
This interaction underscores the ongoing coordination between the Centre and Jammu & Kashmir’s leadership, particularly amid recent security and developmental challenges. The meeting holds significance as the Union Territory approaches the sixth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2025.
