Kathua, June 9, 2025- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha laid the foundation stone for Dhunseri Polyfilm Ltd’s industrial unit in Dohlian Jattan Village, Kathua, marking a pivotal moment for the region’s economic growth. This Rs 1,240 crore project, spread across 300 kanals, will produce Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) films with a capacity of 1,28,400 tonnes per annum. Set to be completed in two phases by 2026, it promises to generate around 1,000 direct jobs for local youth and spark widespread economic activity in surrounding rural areas.
The initiative is a cornerstone of Kathua’s emergence as an industrial hub, driven by transparent governance and investor-friendly policies. By fostering local employment and supporting small businesses, the unit will create a ripple effect of prosperity, empowering communities and strengthening supply chains. The project also positions Jammu and Kashmir as a key player in India’s polyester film industry, with potential to boost exports and national economic contributions.
Addressing challenges, Sinha emphasized resilience against efforts to disrupt the region’s progress, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to sustainable development. The Dhunseri Polyfilm unit symbolizes hope and opportunity, offering the youth of Kathua a chance to build brighter futures while transforming the region into a beacon of industrial innovation. As the project advances, it will lay the foundation for lasting economic empowerment and regional pride.
