Srinagar, May 17, 2025 – Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Tangdhar Sector along the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday to review the security situation following recent unprovoked heavy shelling by Pakistan. During his visit, Sinha held discussions with Indian Army and J&K Police officials to assess ground-level preparedness and interacted with jawans, commending their unwavering commitment to safeguarding India’s territorial integrity.
“The country is grateful to our Armed Forces for protecting lives and ensuring the sanctity of our borders with alertness, dedication, bravery, and supreme sacrifice,” Sinha said, as quoted by ANI. He praised the jawans in Tangdhar, stating, “They are standing tall, full of confidence and with determination to safeguard the nation. Bharat Mata ki Jai!” Sinha expressed confidence in the forces’ ability to counter any misadventure by the enemy, adding, “Jai Hind! Jai Hind ki Sena!”
The visit comes in the wake of escalated tensions along the LoC, triggered by Pakistan’s retaliatory shelling after India’s Operation Sindoor, a military strike targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The shelling caused significant damage in Tangdhar, Uri, Poonch, and Rajouri, prompting the administration to provide immediate assistance and plan comprehensive rehabilitation for affected residents.
Sinha’s interaction with Army and Police officials focused on strengthening border security and ensuring robust countermeasures against cross-border threats. The Indian Army, supported by the J&K Police and CRPF, has intensified patrolling and surveillance to prevent infiltration and maintain stability. The administration has also prioritized clearing unexploded shells and enhancing underground bunkers to protect civilians.
Highlighting the Armed Forces’ role, Sinha noted their supreme sacrifice and readiness to defend the nation. “I am confident that our jawans will firmly deal with any challenge,” he said, reinforcing national pride in the military’s resilience. The J&K administration is working closely with the Government of India to address security concerns and support border communities.
As the ceasefire holds, Sinha’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering security and honoring the bravery of the Armed Forces. The administration continues to monitor the situation, ensuring the safety of residents and the sanctity of India’s borders.
