Kashmir, May 8, 2025 – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauded the Indian Armed Forces for their “courage and bravery” in a successful operation that neutraliSed terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir . Speaking in Delhi on Wednesday, Singh described the action, dubbed Operation Sindoor, as a matter of “pride” for the nation.
“I congratulate the armed forces for the action they took yesterday and the courage and bravery they showed. Terror camps in Pakistan and PoK have been neutralised,” Singh stated during an address at the 66th Raising Day of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at Manekshaw Centre in Delhi Cantonment.
The operation, executed with “precision, precaution, and compassion,” was India’s response to an attack on its soil, invoking its “Right to Respond,” according to the minister. Singh highlighted that the armed forces acted under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, delivering a “befitting reply” to terrorist infrastructure across the border.
Details of the operation remain limited, with the Defence Ministry yet to release an official statement on the specifics of the targets or casualties. Singh’s remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Operation Sindoor being compared to previous surgical strikes following the Uri and Pulwama attacks. The minister emphasized India’s resolve to combat terrorism, stating that the armed forces have consistently demonstrated their capability to act decisively.
The Indian government has not yet commented on potential diplomatic repercussions or Pakistan’s response to the strikes.
As the nation awaits further details, Operation Sindoor underscores India’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism, with the Defence Minister reaffirming the armed forces’ readiness to protect national security.
