Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, April 18, 2025 – Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has made significant advancements in strengthening the region’s healthcare sector, with a particular focus on mental health and psychosocial support infrastructure across all districts, according to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The announcement reflects the Union Territory’s commitment to enhancing public health services and ensuring accessible care for its residents.
LG Manoj Sinha highlighted that the J&K administration has prioritised the development of robust healthcare infrastructure, aligning with the Modi government’s vision of a healthier India. Specialised facilities for mental health and psychosocial support have been established in every district, addressing critical needs in a region that has faced unique challenges. These efforts include the creation of counselling centres, psychiatric care units, and community-based support programs to promote mental well-being.
The administration’s broader healthcare initiatives encompass upgrading hospitals, expanding access to primary and secondary care, and integrating digital health solutions to reach remote areas. Sinha emphasised that these developments are part of a holistic approach to improve quality of life, with investments in medical infrastructure and trained personnel ensuring sustainable progress.
These achievements build on national schemes like the Ayushman Bharat program, which has facilitated affordable healthcare for millions. The J&K administration’s efforts under Modi’s guidance demonstrate a commitment to bridging healthcare gaps and fostering resilience in the Union Territory.
