Himachal Diwas in J&K: LG Sinha Calls for Cultural Unity, Heritage Pride & Inter-State Exchange On 15 April 1948, thirty princely states of the hilly areas gave up their rule for the cultural and social unity of Himachal Pradesh. And they all joined free India. Today, it has been seventy years since that incident. And I believe that this celebration of the installation of Devguru, adorned with the blessings of nature and gods, is also a symbol of unity and progress, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha celebrating Himachal Diwas in J&K. If a comparative study of all the regions of India is done then it becomes clear that the history of Himachal Pradesh is very rich and diverse. For example, the culture of Himachal has always been godly. And this is the first region of the country where different villages have their own deities. Therefore, the basis of the entire social structure of Himachal will be spirituality and culture. I am proud that the kind of devotion that exists in Himachal is unique, incomparable, amazing and unforgettable in the whole world. We also call the land of Himachal as the land of penance of sages and saints. And even today you will find ashrams and temples of ancient sages in various areas of Himachal. It is true that every stone in the Himalayas has spiritual power hidden in it. And it is said that Lord Shiva is seen performing Tandava on the waves of the river. There is a book written by Diwan Govardhan Ji himself, published in 1983, ‘Art & Architecture of Himachal Pradesh’. I would request all the young students of Himachal Pradesh present here to definitely read this book. And also tell your friends in Himachal to definitely read this book, LG said. After reading the book, you will truly understand that you are the inheritors of a cultural heritage and you have a great responsibility to preserve and nurture the legacy your ancestors have left for you. If you want to study ancient Indian culture and art then Himachal Pradesh is the most suitable place in the country. Himachal Pradesh, which has such a cultural heritage, is contributing to the precious tradition of India by promoting culture. I believe that mixed cultural events are very important for the unity and integrity of the country. Cultural interaction among citizens and artists plays a vital role in building a rich and unique nation. And so I believe there is a need to increase cultural exchange between states. It will promote mutual understanding, overcome barriers and will also play an important role in strengthening India by creating a social community. I believe that when people from different regions share their traditions, food and art with each other, it reduces divisions and works to bridge the distances. Under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, cultural exchange between the states is not only bringing economic benefits but also creating cultural equality. Local festivals will attract tourists and cooperation between states will greatly help in organising big festivals, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha addressing the Himachal Diwas celebrations held at Raj Bhawan.
