On Jharkhand Day, the Raj Bhawan in Jammu hosted a cultural evening to commemorate the state’s foundation.The event was attended by students, security personnel, and residents of Jharkhand, who were specially invited to join in the festivities. The evening highlighted the rich cultural heritage and history of Jharkhand, with a series of traditional folk dances and musical performances that showcased the state’s vibrant artistic traditions. In his address, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha spoke about the deep history and cultural significance of Jharkhand, recalling the invaluable contributions of social reformers, freedom fighters, litterateurs, farmers, and artists. He emphasised that Jharkhand, often referred to as “the land of forests,” holds a special place in India’s history, particularly through the struggles and sacrifices of iconic figures like Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Tilka Manjhi. He also touched upon the state’s natural beauty and cultural diversity, noting that Jharkhand’s entrepreneurial spirit and resourcefulness continue to make important contributions to India’s growth. He spoke of the ancient Indian belief in maintaining a balance between nature and humankind, urging the audience to reaffirm their commitment to conserving natural resources.
