Mixed-Gender Hockey Match promotes voter awareness among Youth in Poonch

POONCH, AUGUST 23: An innovative exhibition hockey match was held today at the Sports Stadium Poonch, bringing together both boys and girls in a single team to raise awareness about the importance of voting, particularly for first-time voters.
Organised under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative by the Department of Youth Sports and Services, the match featured the Khelo India team, PMDP and Sham Lal Hockey Club, demonstrating the power of unity and inclusivity in sports.
The event was graced by the presence of District Election Officer Poonch Vikas Kundal, as the Chief Guest. He praised the unique format of the match, emphasizing how the collaboration between boys and girls on the same team symbolized equality and mutual respect. In his address, Sh. Kundal highlighted the vital role of young voters in shaping the future of the nation. He encouraged first-time voters to exercise their democratic rights, reminding them that their participation is essential for a thriving democracy.
