Srinagar, June 28, 2025 – Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting today at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre in Srinagar to discuss preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025, scheduled to commence on July 3 and conclude on August 9. The meeting brought together members of civil society organizations, religious leaders, elected representatives, and the trade and business community to ensure a seamless and secure pilgrimage for devotees.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, a significant spiritual and socio-economic event in Jammu and Kashmir, was described by LG Sinha as a “people’s pilgrimage,” emphasising the vital role of every citizen in its success. He urged stakeholders to make the yatra a vibrant celebration of spirituality, unity, and communal harmony, highlighting its importance as a symbol of the region’s rich cultural heritage and promising future.
During the meeting, LG Sinha reviewed comprehensive arrangements made by the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, J&K administration, J&K Police, and security forces to enhance pilgrim-centric facilities and ensure safety. Key initiatives include improved security deployments, inter-agency coordination, and contingency planning to address the challenging terrains along the pilgrimage routes. The LG also emphasized the importance of pilgrims traveling in designated convoys for enhanced safety.
Sinha welcomed valuable suggestions from attendees, including the Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, DDC Chairpersons, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and representatives from various organizations. Stakeholders pledged their full support for the smooth conduct of the yatra, underscoring its significance to the region’s composite culture and economy. The LG assured that the administration would address the demands and issues raised during the interaction to meet the aspirations of all involved.
“Jammu and Kashmir has always embraced diversity, rejecting distinctions between sects and religions. Let us welcome the lakhs of devotees arriving for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra with this spirit and ensure a peaceful, hassle-free pilgrimage,” Sinha said. He expressed confidence that the yatra, with the blessings of Baba Amarnath, would be a success, further strengthening the region’s legacy of religious harmony.
The meeting also highlighted the collaborative efforts of the administration and local communities over the past four years to make the yatra a collective endeavor. LG Sinha noted that the peaceful conduct of the pilgrimage would send a strong message of unity across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025 is expected to draw a large number of devotees, with registrations rising steadily. The administration has introduced measures such as tatkal registration and RFID cards for pilgrims, alongside setting up 106 lodgment centers across Jammu to accommodate over 50,000 yatris. Private vehicles associated with the yatra will also be allowed to proceed under full security cover.
