RAMBAN, JULY 30: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, today chaired a meeting of the District Cooperatives Development Committee (DCDC) to discuss the progress and development of cooperative societies in the district.
He also reviewed the progress of the Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) established under the vision “Sahakar-se-Samriddhi” as envisaged by the Hon’ble Prime Minister for implementation of a plan for strengthening cooperative societies.
It was informed that out of the target of 4 Food Processing Units to be established in the District during the ongoing financial year, the DPRs for the two have been completed and DPRs for remaining two are under process. It was revealed that 5 PM Kisan Samridhi Kendras (PMKSKs), 2 PM Jan Aushadhi Kendras, 1 FPO, and 81 different kinds of Cooperative Societies are active in the district.
The meeting discussed in detail the performance of various cooperative societies, including agriculture, consumer, and credit cooperatives, and discussed thoroughly the ways to strengthen and expand their services.
The DC emphasized the importance of cooperative societies in promoting economic growth, self-reliance, and social justice.
He directed the officials to ensure timely completion of ongoing projects and to explore new opportunities for the benefit of the people. He asked the Dy Registrar to process the establishment of Rural Haat at NH-44 within the jurisdiction of Ramban district for the display and sale of the products of the Cooperative Societies.
He urged the department to take extensive awareness campaigns throughout the district in collaboration with Agriculture and allied departments. He directed the Dy Registrar to take up the matter and communicate actively for timely allocation of required land to develop the infrastructure required for World Largest Food Grain Storage Plan.
