The J&K LG, Shri Manoj Sinha has dedicated the upgraded and revamped Bakshi Stadium to the sportspersons of Kashmir. This step was taken during auspicious Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations for India’s 75th Independence Day. The UT administration has assigned top priority to nurture a flourishing sports culture among youth at grass roots level. The LG said, with dreams in their eyes, their passionate steps has always lead them to the Bakshi stadium. Bakshi Stadium has been a central place of youth for decades nurturing many dreams and making local sportspersons famous all over the country. This is the Bakshi Stadium which for many years has been filling the lives of youth with passionate colours of sports. The players’ skills are providing the next generation of sportspersons with this promising inheritance.
The LG also stated that the administration had clear instructions from the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to develop the stadium to the standards of FIFA without any compromise. After an investment of Rs 50 crore, the stadium is now ready and I am happy to deliver the stadium to serve the aspirations of J&K sportspersons. The Lt Governor marked the start of sports activities in the newly upgraded stadium by kicking a football.
