Poonch, December 23,2025 :The Health Department Poonch has achieved a significant milestone under the Pulse Polio Immunisation programme, successfully administering polio drops to 80,860 children across the district.
Officials said the intensive vaccination drive was carried out with the objective of ensuring 100 percent immunization coverage among children in the 0–5 years age group, thereby safeguarding them against the crippling poliovirus. The campaign witnessed active participation from healthcare workers, ASHAs, anganwadi workers, volunteers, and supervisory staff, who worked tirelessly even in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
Special immunization booths were set up at health centres, bus stands, schools, and other public locations, while mobile teams were deployed to cover migratory populations, border villages, and underserved localities. Health authorities also conducted awareness activities to educate parents about the importance of polio vaccination.
Senior health officials lauded the coordinated efforts of field staff and supporting departments, stating that the achievement reflects the district’s strong commitment to maintaining polio-free status. Continuous monitoring and supervision ensured quality implementation of the programme.
The Health Department reiterated its appeal to parents and guardians to cooperate with future immunization drives and ensure that no child is left unvaccinated.
