Jammu, December 8,2025 : Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to uplifting economically weaker sections, the Lieutenant Governor today laid the foundation stone for 350 new houses in Jammu district. These houses will be provided free of cost to families whose homes were destroyed during natural calamities and Operation Sindoor.
The initiative is part of a larger mission to bring transformative change to the lives of the poor. Officials highlighted that over the past five years, lakhs of economically weaker citizens have benefited from various government schemes, while infrastructure in backward and underserved regions has seen significant upgrades.
The newly sanctioned houses are designed as three-bedroom, modern, resilient, and technologically advanced structures, ensuring long-term safety and comfort for beneficiary families. The project is being implemented with the support of HRDS-India, a national NGO known for its work in disaster rehabilitation and rural development.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Lieutenant Governor noted that Jammu’s pace of development is unprecedented, adding that the region has achieved a strong growth trajectory despite numerous challenges. He reiterated the administration’s dedication to ensuring inclusive growth and improving the quality of life for the poor and marginalised.
The construction of these homes marks another milestone in the UT’s ongoing efforts to provide secure housing and restore dignity to families affected by adversity.
