Anantnag, June 15,2026- In a significant step towards empowering persons with disabilities and promoting inclusive development, around 300 specially-abled citizens received assistive devices at a free distribution camp organized at Bon Dailgam in Anantnag district.
The camp, conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, aimed to enhance mobility, accessibility, and independence for beneficiaries by providing a range of assistive aids and appliances tailored to their individual needs.
The initiative brought smiles to hundreds of beneficiaries and their families as they received support that will help them lead more independent and dignified lives. The distribution of assistive devices is expected to improve access to education, employment opportunities, healthcare services, and day-to-day activities for persons with disabilities across the district.
Officials associated with the programme highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring that welfare schemes reach the most vulnerable sections of society. By providing essential aids and assistive equipment free of cost, the initiative seeks to remove barriers that often limit the participation of differently-abled individuals in social and economic activities.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the devices would significantly improve their mobility and quality of life. Family members also welcomed the initiative, describing it as a meaningful step toward empowerment and self-reliance.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, community representatives, and officials, reflecting a collective commitment to creating a more inclusive society. Such outreach programmes are increasingly playing a crucial role in extending government welfare initiatives to people living in remote and underserved areas.
The distribution camp also highlighted the broader focus on social inclusion and accessibility in Jammu and Kashmir. Over the years, efforts have been intensified to ensure that persons with disabilities receive the support, resources, and opportunities necessary to participate fully in society.
For many beneficiaries, the assistive devices represent more than just equipment—they symbolize newfound confidence, independence, and hope for a better future.
As the smiles of recipients lit up the venue at Bon Dailgam, the event served as a reminder that empowerment begins with accessibility and equal opportunity. The initiative stands as another example of ongoing efforts to improve lives and strengthen social welfare delivery at the grassroots level.
The successful organization of the camp has reinforced the message that inclusive development remains central to the vision of a progressive and empowered Jammu and Kashmir.
