Jammu, December 17,2025-Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday said that India’s historic victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak War not only safeguarded national sovereignty but also firmly established the country’s stature on the global stage. Addressing a commemorative event on Vijay Diwas, the LG paid rich tributes to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation.
The Lieutenant Governor said the decisive victory of 1971 reflected the courage, discipline and unmatched valour of the Indian Armed Forces, adding that the triumph remains a defining moment in India’s military and diplomatic history. He noted that the war demonstrated India’s commitment to peace while showcasing its resolve to protect national integrity.
Highlighting the significance of Vijay Diwas, the LG said the day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by soldiers and their families, whose bravery ensured freedom, security and honour for future generations. He urged citizens, especially the youth, to draw inspiration from the spirit of patriotism, unity and selfless service displayed by the armed forces during the war.
The LG also emphasised that remembering the 1971 victory is essential to strengthening national unity and instilling respect for the armed forces. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to the welfare of martyrs’ families and veterans, acknowledging their invaluable contribution to the nation.
The event concluded with wreath-laying ceremonies and patriotic tributes, reaffirming collective gratitude towards the heroes who played a pivotal role in India’s historic victory.
