₹850 Incentive Boost: Oil Seed Farmers Gain Under Govt Scheme in Pulwama Wahid Ur Rahman, Chief Agriculture Officer in Pulwama said that the oil seed fields here are Centrally sponsored scheme under National Oil Seed Mission. In Jammu & Kashmir thare are 20 Districts and in all the districts, this programme is going on. In Pulwama too, a good area is dedicated to the oil seed fields. The mission of this scheme is an increase in oil seed production, area expansion and quality seed production. In all three areas, we have grown significantly over the years. This year, the area expansion covers 18,600 hectares in District Pulwama. As for quality seeds, there are others in private sector and seed villages in 50 hectares has been applied. We are giving production incentive to the tune of Rs 850 per quintal to the farmer for producing oil seed. For this scheme, the seed village needs to be registered and the farmer also registers on the portal. The Department procures 50% of their production at the rate of Rs 8000 per quintal. Then they also get the incentive of Rs 850 per quintal for seed production. An oil seed farmer in Pulwama said, he was grateful to the government and the Department for the oil seed village in Pulwama that gives farmers many benefits.
