Kupwara, April 2, 2025 – The much-anticipated Zarla Winter Festival was inaugurated by the 7 Rashtriya Rifles in the picturesque town of Karnah, Kupwara. This three-day celebration aims to showcase the region’s rich cultural heritage while promoting winter sports among locals and tourists.
The festival kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony, featuring traditional Kashmiri music and dance performances that set the tone for the festivities. A highlight of the event is the free ski and snowboard training sessions, designed to introduce winter sports to beginners and enthusiasts alike. These sessions are being conducted by trained instructors, with equipment provided at no cost to participants.
In addition to winter sports activities, the festival offers an array of cultural events. Visitors can explore local handicraft exhibitions, sample traditional Kashmiri cuisine at food stalls, and enjoy live performances of Rouf and Ladishah dances. The festival also features storytelling sessions and workshops aimed at preserving and promoting local traditions.
