Ramban , January 31,2026-World Leprosy Eradication Day was observed in Ramban with a renewed commitment to public health and social awareness. The event coincided with Martyrs’ Day and the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, reinforcing the message of compassion, service, and inclusion.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Ramban, along with the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), flagged off a Leprosy Awareness Vehicle under the SPARSH Campaign. The initiative aims to spread awareness about leprosy, focusing on early detection, prevention, and treatment, while also addressing stigma associated with the disease.
The awareness vehicle will travel across various areas of the district, disseminating information through audio-visual messages and community outreach activities until February 13. Health officials emphasized that leprosy is a curable disease and that timely diagnosis and treatment can prevent disabilities and ensure full recovery.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to strengthening healthcare services and promoting awareness to achieve the goal of a leprosy-free society, in line with national health objectives.
