Srinagar, June 3,2026-In a significant initiative to promote fitness, healthy living, and a drug-free society, the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council is set to organize a grand World Bicycle Day Cyclothon in Srinagar on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
The event will commence from the picturesque Royal Springs Golf Course and cover a 22-kilometre round trip along the iconic Dal Lake Boulevard, bringing together hundreds of cycling enthusiasts, sportspersons, youth, and fitness advocates from across the Kashmir Valley.
The cyclothon aims to encourage citizens to adopt cycling as a sustainable and healthy lifestyle choice while spreading awareness about the importance of physical fitness and the fight against drug abuse. Participants have been asked to report at 6:30 AM for the early morning ride, which is expected to witness enthusiastic participation from people of all age groups.
The Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council emphasized that the event is part of its broader mission to promote sports culture, active lifestyles, and youth engagement across the Union Territory. Through the slogan “Pedal Against Obesity. Choose Health. Choose Cycling,” organizers seek to inspire individuals to embrace regular physical activity and contribute towards building a fitter and healthier society.
The World Bicycle Day Cyclothon also aligns with ongoing efforts to create awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and support the vision of a Drug-Free Jammu & Kashmir. By combining sports, fitness, and social awareness, the event highlights the role of cycling as a powerful tool for improving physical and mental well-being.
Participants and citizens have been encouraged to join the sunrise ride and become part of a collective movement promoting health, unity, environmental sustainability, and positive community engagement.
