Women of Tral Appeal to LG: ‘We Learn, Earn & Support Our Families—Give Us ₹4000 Stipend to Do More” This is a Handicrafts Centre in Gulab Bagh village in Tral, Jammu & Kashmir. We are learning Chain Stictch embrodery at the Centre. It is for one year but we want the course to go on for two years so that we can be good at it, said a young girl at the Gulab Bagh centre. We do our household chores and work here too. This is a good thing for a woman, she can earn by herself and help her husband and also her father and brother. Another young woman said young girls come to the centre but many married ones too join the Centre. We would like to request the J&K Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha to increase the monthly stipend to Rs 3000-Rs 4000, then it will be good for women. Nowadays, even girls do drugs, I request all of them to earn something with their own hands. Be bold and go ahead and make your parents proud, said one girl. Today is not those times. Women should also walk shoulder to shoulder with men, only then the house runs happily, said a woman learning at the centre. I want to tell my sisters that there are no fake schemes in the Government, come to the centre. Do some work. There are many schemes in handicrafts, also mushroom scheme, dairy schemes, etc. At first my parents also thought the same way. Then when I went out of the house I realised that this is good scheme and I can do something and make my parents proud. The trainer at the Tral Chain Stitch Centre in Gulab Bagh said he wants all the girls to learn this skill and stand on their own two feet and make their lives happy.
