Jammu, April 16, 2026-Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday lauded the indispensable role of women farmers in sustaining food security and driving rural prosperity, stating that without their contribution, “every plate would be empty, leaving humanity starved.”
Addressing the Women Farmers Conference organized by Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited, the LG emphasized that women are the backbone of agriculture and allied sectors, often working harder than their male counterparts while balancing household responsibilities.
Highlighting their critical role, Manoj Sinha said women farmers not only ensure food production but also contribute significantly to economic stability and community well-being. “Their strength anchors food security and plants seeds of prosperity for families and society in every field,” he noted.
The LG also underscored the growing impact of women agri-entrepreneurs, calling for greater institutional support, access to credit, modern technology, and market linkages to further strengthen their participation in the agricultural economy.
He stressed the need to develop the agriculture sector under the leadership of women, advocating policies that promote skill development, innovation, and entrepreneurship among women in farming and allied activities.
The conference brought together stakeholders, policymakers, and women farmers from across the region, providing a platform to discuss challenges, share success stories, and explore pathways for inclusive agricultural growth.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to empower women farmers and enhance their role in shaping a resilient and sustainable agricultural future in Jammu and Kashmir.
