Srinagar, August 26: The Meteorological Department on Tuesday said that the next 24 hours are “crucial” for the entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, as heavy rainfall continues to trigger flood alerts, landslides, and shooting stones in several areas.
Officials have advised people, especially in the Jammu region, to stay alert and avoid unnecessary travel on vulnerable stretches of roads and highways. The incessant rain has already led to traffic disruptions at multiple locations, while rivers and streams are witnessing rising water levels.
Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as Ladakh, have issued fresh weather advisories, warning of the possibility of flash floods, waterlogging in low-lying areas, and further damage to roads and communication infrastructure.
Meanwhile, disaster response teams and local administrations have been put on high alert to deal with any emergencies. The public has been urged to follow official updates and take necessary precautions.
