Jammu I March 23, 2025 – J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasised the urgent need for equal opportunities for Divyangjan during his address at the Purple Fest 2025 held at Raj Bhawan, Jammu, on March 21. The event, aimed at promoting awareness, inclusion, and empowerment, showcased the resilience and talents of Divyangjan while spotlighting government efforts to foster an inclusive society.
“We must ensure equal opportunity for Divyangjan,” LG Sinha declared, praising the transformative reforms introduced under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He highlighted how these policies mandate both public and private sectors to systematically address challenges faced by persons with disabilities, ensuring they can lead dignified lives. “The Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision has ensured that every establishment follows an equal opportunity policy, unlocking the innate potential of Divyangjan,” Sinha added.
The Lieutenant Governor outlined key initiatives, including enhanced accessibility, skill development programs, and technological innovations designed to empower Divyangjan. He urged officials from the Social Welfare Department and other stakeholders to achieve 100% saturation of Unique ID Cards for Divyangjan, streamlining access to benefits and services. “Identification of beneficiaries is the first step toward inclusion,” he stressed.
The Purple Fest 2025 brought together senior officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Commissioner Secretary Sanjeev Verma, and Director of Social Welfare Rupesh Kumar, alongside Divyangjan, NGOs, and civil society members. The event underscored Jammu and Kashmir’s commitment to building a supportive environment, with Sinha lauding the community’s contributions to this mission.
