Jammu, March 27,2026- In a significant step towards promoting adventure tourism and water sports, the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council has established a dedicated water sports centre at Ranjit Sagar Dam in Basohli.
The newly developed centre, located along the scenic reservoir bank, aims to create opportunities for youth engagement, sports training, and tourism development in the region. It will offer structured training programmes for young athletes in disciplines such as surfing, kayaking, and water polo, while also facilitating recreational activities for visitors.
Officials stated that the initiative is part of a broader effort to position Basohli as an emerging hub for water-based adventure sports in Jammu and Kashmir. The centre will also host regular events, competitions, and training camps, encouraging participation from local youth and adventure enthusiasts.
With its picturesque surroundings and vast water expanse, Ranjit Sagar Dam is expected to attract tourists and sports lovers alike, giving a boost to the local economy and tourism sector.
The move reflects the government’s continued focus on developing sports infrastructure and promoting fitness, recreation, and adventure tourism across the Union Territory.
