Visit of Vigyan Jyoti students to Indian Institute of Technology Jammu

JAMMU, JULY 18: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu hosted 50 students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Reasi, Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Reasi and Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Reasi as part of the Vigyan Jyoti Programme.
This initiative aims to promote gender parity in STEM fields by increasing the representation of girls in science and technology.
The outreach section, led by Prof. Abhay Sharma, Dean, and Dr. Nalin Kumar Sharma, Associate Dean, organized the visit to the institute’s various facilities, including the Tinkerer’s Lab, Central Workshop, and Physics Lab, where dedicated staff explained the operation and significance of equipment. The day included informative sessions where Dr. Pervaiz Fathima Khatoon, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering and Dr. Nalin Kumar Sharma motivated the students towards STEM.
The event concluded with refreshments served to all participants. This visit was a pivotal step in inspiring and empowering young girls to pursue careers in STEM, reinforcing IIT Jammu’s commitment to fostering educational outreach and support for future generations.
