Veterans Day observed in Doda as Indian Army honours brave ex-servicemen

Doda, January 15,2026-The Indian Army on Thursday organised a dignified Armed Forces Veterans’ Day programme in Doda district, paying tribute to the valour, sacrifice and service of India’s veterans and martyrs. The event was attended by senior Army officers, the Deputy Commissioner, Doda, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from ex-servicemen, war veterans and families of martyrs.

The programme was organised to honour the contribution of veterans to the nation’s security and to reaffirm the Army’s commitment to their welfare and well-being. Senior Army officers interacted with veterans and their families, acknowledging their service and sacrifices in safeguarding the country.

Special welfare and support information stalls were set up during the event to provide guidance on pensions, medical facilities, resettlement schemes, ex-servicemen welfare programmes and other government benefits. Officials said the initiative aimed to bridge the information gap and ensure that veterans and their families are fully aware of the facilities and entitlements available to them.

Addressing the gathering, speakers highlighted the significance of Armed Forces Veterans’ Day, which is observed annually to honour the dedication and courage of retired defence personnel. They emphasised that veterans remain an integral part of the nation’s defence fraternity and continue to inspire future generations through their service and discipline.

The event concluded with expressions of gratitude to the veterans and martyrs’ families, reaffirming the Indian Army’s resolve to stand by them and ensure their dignity, welfare and respect.
