Ujjwala Yojana | Women in J&K Hail PM Modi’s Initiative for Smoke-Free Kitchens & Enhanced Safety This scheme is not only liberating the poor women of the country from smoke but has also become a major medium of their empowerment, said the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given us this Ujjwal Yojana scheme, said women in Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir. This has given us great relief in lighting the stove and collecting wood. Even during shelling we had to fetch woods from the jungle to cook food. We females faced great difficulties in gathering wood from far, lighting stove and tackling the smoke. The gas cylinders have protected our eyes from smoke. Our village was backward, said another female in Poonch. There used to happen a lot of shelling. Due to the shelling, it became difficult for us to go out to collect wood. Never thought we’d be able to get gas. We thank the Prime Minister a lot, said village women in Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir. We had to collect wood from very far away, we had to take a lot of risk. We used to go to the forest, we didn’t know what accident might happen there. When Modi ji has given us free gas that has helped us a lot. We women are getting a lot of relief from this initiative, said women in Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir.
