Udhampur, J&K | March 07, 2025

Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai has announced that surveys are currently underway for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative aims to provide affordable housing to eligible beneficiaries in both rural and urban areas of the district.

Call for Registration

In a public appeal, DC Saloni Rai encouraged residents aspiring to own a house to register for the schemes at their nearest designated offices. “I would like to appeal to those who want to own a house to get themselves registered at their nearest Municipality office (in urban areas) or BDO (Block Development Officer) office (in rural areas),” she stated. The administration is working diligently to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out of the housing program.

Application Status and Verification

According to the Deputy Commissioner, approximately 15,000 applications have already been received from rural areas under PMAY-G. These applications are now in the process of being verified to confirm eligibility. “Everyone is working hard to ensure that no beneficiary is left out,” Rai emphasized, highlighting the administration’s commitment to the scheme’s success.

Self-Survey Option Available

To facilitate greater participation, Rai pointed out that a self-survey option is available on the official PMAY portal. “There is also a self-survey option on the portal so that people can register themselves if a government official is unable to reach them,” she explained. This feature is designed to ensure accessibility for those in remote locations or areas where survey teams face logistical challenges.

Ongoing Efforts

The PMAY schemes, launched by the Government of India, aim to provide “Housing for All” by offering financial assistance to construct homes for economically weaker sections. In Udhampur, the administration is intensifying efforts to complete surveys and registrations, ensuring that the benefits reach every eligible household.

Residents are urged to take advantage of this opportunity and contact their local Municipality or BDO office for assistance in the registration process.
