Udhampur bus accident: 15 dead, 32 injured in Khagote Crash

Udhampur, April 20,2026- At least 15 people lost their lives and 32 others were injured after a passenger bus skidded off the road at a sharp curve in the Khagote area of Udhampur on Monday.

According to officials, the bus reportedly lost control while negotiating a steep turn, plunging into a deep gorge. Rescue teams, including police, local volunteers, and emergency services, rushed to the spot and launched a swift operation to evacuate the injured.

The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, where several are stated to be in critical condition. Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, though preliminary reports suggest overspeeding or mechanical failure could be factors.

Senior officials have expressed condolences to the bereaved families and assured all possible assistance to the victims. Traffic authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially on hilly and sharp-turn routes prone to accidents.
