Udhampur, April 11, 2025 – The District Administration Udhampur wrapped up a spectacular Two-Day Flower Exhibition at Jakhani Park today, drawing enthusiastic crowds and celebrating the region’s natural splendour. The event, which kicked off on April 9, aimed to boost tourism, promote environmental awareness, and showcase the cultural heritage of Udhampur.
Inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, alongside Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, the flower show transformed Jakhani Park into a vibrant display of seasonal blooms. The Divisional Commissioner praised the initiative, noting that Jammu and Kashmir’s scenic beauty makes Jakhani Park a potential hotspot for travelers. “This event celebrates nature and community, and I hope it becomes an annual tradition,” he said.
The exhibition featured an array of floral arrangements, captivating visitors with their colors and creativity. Government departments, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Health, and Handicrafts, set up stalls to highlight government schemes and offer exhibition-cum-sale opportunities for local artisans. These stalls not only promoted sustainable practices but also engaged the public with information on welfare initiatives.
The event was enriched by a cultural bonanza organized by the Information Department Udhampur. Local artists and students performed Dogri folk songs, dances, and Nukkad Nataks, earning rounds of applause for their vibrant portrayal of Udhampur’s heritage. A painting competition for students added a creative spark, with the Divisional Commissioner distributing prizes to winners for their innovative artworks.
On the concluding day, Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh attended as the chief guest, commending the District Administration for blending nature and social awareness seamlessly. A Nukkad Natak addressing drug abuse struck a chord with attendees, reinforcing the event’s role in fostering community engagement.
Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai shared that the flower exhibition was designed to integrate Jakhani Park into Udhampur’s tourism network, encouraging recreational activities and highlighting the district’s natural beauty. “The overwhelming response assures us this will grow into a cherished tradition,” she said.
The Two-Day Flower Exhibition left visitors inspired, blending environmental consciousness with cultural vibrancy and setting a high bar for future events in Udhampur.
