JAMMU, NOVEMBER 30: A solemn and heartfelt function was held at the Krishi Bhawan Jammu to pay rich tributes to Shri Bawa Jitto (Baba Jitto Mal Dev Ji Maharaj), a revered figure and legendary farmer known for his supreme sacrifice in securing justice for the farming community. The event, organized by the Department of Agriculture in collaboration with the Agriculture Drivers Union and All J&K Agriculture Employees Association, honoured the legacy of Shri Bawa Jitto, who courageously fought against exploitation by landlords and stood for the rights of farmers.
The annual remembrance day ceremony was attended by officers and staff from the Directorate of Agriculture Jammu. In his address, Director Agriculture Jammu, Arvinder Singh Reen, praised the honesty, humility, and unwavering courage of Shri Bawa Jitto. “His life is a beacon of inspiration for all of us,” said Reen, urging those present to draw lessons from his selfless dedication to the welfare of the farming community and to work towards its betterment.
The ceremony included a special prayer and worship to honour the legacy of Bawa Jitto, followed by the distribution of Prasad and a community Bhandara (feast).
In a significant development, the Director also inaugurated a new canteen within the Krishi Bhawan premises, aimed at improving facilities for the staff and visitors.
