Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha paid tribute to General Zorawar Singh, one of India’s greatest military leaders, on his Martyrdom Day during a special commemorative event in Jammu. General Zorawar Singh, renowned for his strategic brilliance and leadership, led military campaigns in Ladakh, Baltistan, and Tibet that significantly expanded the Dogra Empire. His feats on the battlefield earned him the title of “Napoleon of India,” and his legacy continues to inspire generations. In his speech, he emphasised the enduring relevance of General Zorawar Singh’s values of courage, unity, and service to the nation. The Lieutenant Governor spoke about how these principles continue to guide the government’s efforts in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in ensuring that development reaches all sections of society, especially those left behind in the past. “The life and work of great individuals like General Zorawar Singh always inspire us,” said Shri Manoj Sinha, noting that the General’s leadership was not just defined by military victories but by his commitment to social justice and inclusive growth. He reiterated that the government remains dedicated to the welfare of all citizens, with a strong focus on equality, public welfare, and social justice. He affirmed that the administration’s policies are aimed at bridging disparities and ensuring that no one is excluded from the benefits of progress. “Public welfare is my ‘Dharma’ and ‘Kartavya,'” the Lieutenant Governor declared, underscoring the government’s commitment to serving the people. A key aspect of the transformation in Jammu and Kashmir, according to the Lieutenant Governor, has been the rapid acceleration of infrastructure development over the last five years. Hundreds of stalled projects were fast-tracked, significantly improving connectivity, healthcare, education, and public services in the region. He noted that these improvements have not only enhanced the region’s infrastructure but also strengthened public faith in the governance system. “The ideals of democracy and the values enshrined in our Constitution have become integral to the governance process,” he added. The Lieutenant Governor also addressed the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, encouraging them to draw inspiration from General Zorawar Singh’s example of selfless service and dedication to the nation. He urged young people to actively participate in nation-building and contribute to the region’s development. “I have full faith that together, we will realise the resolve of a Developed India,” he said.
